Carbon Poker Review -Is Carbon Poker a Joke or is It For Real?

At first glance Carbon Poker seems to pretty well meet the standards of what most players would expect from an online poker site. It is one of the more established sites which is often what many online seasoned players opt for. This way they know they are going to be able to have a better selection of table players that are around the same level their skills are at. This site is experiencing good growth but as to what it can credit this to remains to be seen. It could be due to some of the major sites closing their doors to US players and this site is gleaning off of those avid players, or it could simply be growing as it is aging and because of what it has to offer. You can better be the judge of this based on this review and then maybe trying it out for yourself. You can also judge, is Carbon Poker simply an online gambling joke or is it as authentic and dynamic as it is portrayed as being?

Carbon Poker is not the new kid on the block when it comes to poker sites but it has plenty of stiff competition in its age group. It hit the internet in 2007  and is licensed under the Kahnawake Gaming Commission forCanada  and operates as part of the Merge gaming Network. The good news is since October 2011 those in the merge network can now accept US players. It is also be touted as being one of the top favored sites within the network.

SOFTWARE: score 6/10

You may not find the site as colorful and eye catching as perhaps some of the other poker sites. They have chosen the subtle colors of the various skins offered by the Merge gaming network and the platform used for this site is Bespoke software.  Merge may not be the most favored in the gaming industry because it has had some rough spots to tend to over the years, but recently any major issues seem to have been sorted out as well as  the software is  stable, since its introduction in 2005. Carbon Poker presents some good graphics in their choice of designs. For seasoned players they may recognize this software as being what was originally designed by The macromedia flash is easy to download and the site has detailed instructions for those new to this. Registration is pretty basic and for the first time online poker player they will have no difficulty getting themselves set up. Another good feature about this particular site is that its easy to navigate around so there is a lot less confusion and frustration. The software functions fairly well on operating systems such as windows 98 for example or even slower internet connection such as some dial ups.

The rules and regs are pretty well standard but they are laid out a little less complicated and easier to read as they are written in more standard English rather than all legal jargon. They have zero tolerance for fraudulent practices and dishonest play.

The site originally was mostly found attractive to beginners, but with its new growth the level now ranges from beginner to high intermediate. Depending on the time it can have up to 10,000 or even more active players mixed in with the cash games while there are ongoing tournaments.

There is a good selection of payment options will some of them being easy for theUSplayers to take advantage of. For Canadian players this is true as well although some payment institutions have shut their doors to Canadian players. There is a low limit deposit of $25. with many new players liking this option.

The security measures meet the industry standards and the site has opted to incorporate a “No flop then no drop policy”. The site is protected with 128 bit encryption SSL and its holds Thawte SSL certification.  There are no second chances allotted to fraudulent or dishonest players.

Overall there is good support with the exception of not having an available phone number where they can reached. They do have 24 hour support with live chat and a guaranteed 48 hour response to emails.

As far as support of the games there is lots of great help that can be found on the site including a concise guide of how to play poker.

There are daily freerolls which is a big drawing feature to many new members, along with the $100,000 Guaranteed Sunday Tournament. Carbon Poker has done pretty good with enticing new members with its start up bonuses. It begins with a 100% deposit match capping off at $600. Then there are daily Freerolls for depositing players for fourteen days. Its important to read the bonus rules and be aware that they can change at any given time.

There is an excellent 5 level VIP program along with the chance to exchange accumulated points for cash, which is great when your bankroll is dropping and then there are daily cash back rebates to make use of as well. The Pros of Carbon Poker:

Its an overall great site for the player range of beginner to intermediate. With the constant influx of new players it will soon reach the appropriate level for the high end intermediate. Being as the site is easy to navigate and there is the opportunity to play in multi rooms at one time it give the site a bit of an edge over some of the other sites that are within the same caliber as this one. The number of free rolls is impressive as well as the chance to be able to form private tables.

The Cons of Carbon Poker:

It can be slow at times and limited as to the variety of games to join in that are in action. This is not likely to continue for much longer with the rapid growth they are experiencing.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Overall Site Score 8/10

It is a well established site and is showing promise with its growth rate. Overall the general feeling is that this increase in membership is not just based on the fact that US players are limited in choice. These players insist on a certain criteria that their poker sites must have to draw their membership even though there are limited choices. It would seem that for up to the intermediate level the Carbon Poker Site has the right ingredients.

Answer to the question…Is Carbon Poker a Joke or is it for real?

It is easy to see that with the growth rate and the influx of newUSplayers who know their poker sites, that the answer to this question would be that Carbon Poker is for real and has the opportunity to make itself one of the more popular onsite gaming sites.
